Hey Everyone,
I'm from Northern Michigan and I'm into all kinds of treasure hunting.
I found this site while doing research on coin roll hunting. I didn't expect to find others that also enjoy the other hobbies I have all on one site.
My first find was a huge fossil in a gravel pit behind my house. It was sticking out of the side of the hill and I couldn't believe my little eyes. I was probably about 9 and I've been hooked ever since.
I started collecting fossils and then rocks. I learned to keep my eyes to the ground all the time. One day out in the woods I found an arrow head. That was all it took and then I became obsessed with Native American artifacts. I volunteered at a Native American archeological dig site but other than that I spend most of my time out in the woods. I tried to find a mound last summer without any luck. I will try again come Spring.
Soon I found myself collecting all things old including bottles, coins and misc. items. (Broken glass, china, etc.)
I bought a MD and started hunting and digging around old foundations and exploring old homesteads two years ago. I've learned how to read the trees and land and can quickly find a site without the help of a map. I have no problem digging in trash sites and old outhouse sites!
I'm also fascinated with micro land formations. I find myself looking at ditches and strange land formations and try to figure out if it was manmade or not. While looking for the mounds last summer I found some strange micro land formations and I was able to figure out that it was an old fire trench once I found an old burnt tree stump. Anyway, that kindof stuff excites me. Anyone else
Oh, and I'm in love with big trees (I'm guessing because they are old. I know, I'm strange) and farmer made rock piles. "Look at all those pretty rocks!!!"
I started coin roll hunting to keep my busy this winter. I'm now planning my adventures come spring. Maybe panning will be in my future?
I also wouldn't mind underwater diving recovery. What the heck...I'm up for anything.
I've never hunted with anyone else and everything I know I've taught myself. I feel that if I had a mentor I would do much better at treasure hunting. I really don't know what I'm doing and haven't found anything significant.
I do have a problem...I'm a female and twice I've ran into people in the middle of the woods and it made me feel uncomfortable. Even though they were harmless I still realized my vulnerability. I do carry a knife but still... I would love to find a female treasure hunting partner.
Can't wait to "meet" you all!!!
