This measures about 3/4 inch square and I found it in the yard of an old house. Thanks for the help in ID'ing this sucker!

It could be a broken flat brass picture-rail hook.

I feel like I've seen these linking the springs together on something like the insides of a boxspring or an upholstered chair seat or rollaway bed frame, crimped on each end, as Mojjax suggested. I just can't recall exactly where, so of course that direction may be wrong.

If you ever saw the inside of a couch or chair this clip holds the metal wire framing together. They look alot like that, Whatever it is it has no value keep hunting I promise you will find some amazing stuff if your patient and love the hobby... Keep posting.. Tommy

This is used in the Telecom industry by service techs. Early ones were made from copper, later ones are made from aluminum. It's used to clamp the drop wire at the house to form a drip loop.

You are all over it! I've sold wire for 27 years, and that's what the old drop wire clamps looked like... well played sir.
