Silver is silver Stopped by Weis for lunch today and spotted some coins in the coinstar return drop.......more to add to the scrap pile 8 dimes (1940,1943,1945,1953,1957,1962,1964,1968) and a 1961 quarter. Good luck to everyone who can get out and happy hunting

Coinstar machines...aren't they great? I too, have a collection of silver coins and odd non-silver coins I've found in the coin return slots at my local stores!

Why were these coins not counted? Because they were Canadian or because they were silver?
Someone told me that the Coinstar kicks out silver coins so that you can retrieve them. Even the coins that
are partially silver. But, I find that hard to believe and can't find anything that addresses that on the Coinstar web site.

I have no idea what the criteria for coin acceptance is to be honest. There were other Canadian coins in the tray.....some dimes, nickels and pennies.....I only photographed the silver though........anyone else know how they reject the coins?
