I was able to get out for a quick two hour hunt this afternoon close to home. Given the semi-drought conditions in our area, I decided to focus my efforts on a dried up vernal pool and the surronding area. The pricker bushes were very thick, but I did my best to swing through them.

Back about 100 years, this spot served as a picnic area for local residents as well as visitors from Boston trying to escape the summer heat. The dried up vernal pool produced two crusty Washington quarters (1937-not shown & 1946). The pricker patch produced a nice pocket spill ( 1925 & 1929 SLQ, and a 1928? Wheatie). A very deep (about 8 inches) 1923 Merc rounded out the day.

The SLQ's cleaned up very well. I was happy that both had readable dates. It's been quite some time since I've had a 4 silver quarter day.

Thanks for having a look. Hope everyone is enjoying the Fall hunting season. Cheers!
