I love that in this hobby, you never know where you'll find something, or where something will find you.

Found these guys in a roadside stack of junk heading for the dump.

Because of the age (I'm guessing 1880s), the subject matter (drinking, smoking, gambling, black eyes) I'm thinking some kind of gang?

Anyone got any ideas or places to start research? I'm kind of at a loss, and I think these could be winners!

Best story wins!

Anything on the back?

looks like Oregon Viking and his family to me

LOL no, he's a member here and he's just ugly like those dudes

Hahaha. Well, good story.

Sorry Oregon Viking, Apparently you aren't a looker.....

:laughing7:

Might be you'll never know, but if the best story wins, and the prize is the pics? Well let me say that I can spin a yarn!
Perhaps a local hot spot bar in town would like them? Have them blown up and framed....$ for you!

what else was in this pile of stuff - perhaps the answers you seek about who is in the photo is in the rest of the stuff...

I have many tintypes, Dags, CDV's, and others from the 1850's onward. My best guess is your photos are from Europe, probably Italy based on wine only as the drink of choice, and circa 1880-1910ish. Very cool finds and sad because these are someone's family history tossed out in the trash. Card rooms, poker fanatics, and casinos would love those photos for display! Congrats on a cool find, Sub 8-)

No idea, but If I saw them coming I would turn around on a sixpence.

The group on the left is "The Unsavory Sasparilly Gang"(I spelled Sasparilly on purpose). The two on the right are Mario and Luigi before they cleaned up and moved to Nintendo.

Well ...
It all started when the defendant in this domestic situation came home late from the usual Friday night poker fight.
Though this time the birds were already tweeting and the Mrs. took offence.
"Drunk again!" she bellowed.
'Oh yeah" he said , "me too!"
An icy silence followed a few minutes and then the poor fellow took the fatal plunge and claimed a right to a weekly card game.
'How would you like to not see me for a couple days?" his beloved asked.
"Fine by me" he said.
He did not see her for a couple days after that.
Then the swelling went down enough that he could see her a little bit out of one eye.
The following Friday he was home before midnight.

Well, these old prints might be "winners", but the gamblers depicted in them clearly are not.
(The way they are seated, they can easily see each other's cards!)

Reminds me of the "mustache Song Group" from a Million ways to die in the west!

LOOKS LIKE MY KIN FOLKS . NICE FIND ..

I would try to have the pictures blown up, & look for names on the bottles, decks of cards, shoes, anything in the picture. You may be able to at least narrow it down somehow.
