Found this on a walking path down by the river. Looks like it would belong to some clothing, some kind of suspender clip or something ??? I have no clue ???? It's just under 2 inches at it's widest point and about 1 1/2 inches tall. You guys have any idea ? Thanks
Frank

Is the top painted jappaned, cloisonned, or what? What kind of metal is it? Breezie

Not sure what kind of metal it is made out of, I can't make out any writing on it and the paint actually looks more like a glaze. It's not real clear but looks like some sort of a flower pattern on the front with green, red, blue, yellow, etc.

Probably half of the buckle. There would have been another piece with a hook to hook onto the loop on the dug piece. It's very likely the missing half looked like the half that was dug I'm guessing late 1800's -early 1900's for a time period

Yes, I think Scott and VaYank are correct in saying it's a Ladies Buckle, well 1/2 of a buckle. After doing a little doctoring on it, does anyone think there are 2 letters? A "C" and an "O"? Where is the writing located? Can you clean it?Breezie

LOL, gotta love me! Well, now that we've opened another can of worms, I'm going to throw in another idea . . . .Could it be a Victorian Ladies Hat Buckle or a Choker Buckle since it is so small. Lawd . .it's 1:30 am; let me get to bed before I turn into a pumpkin! Niters, Breezie

Wheeeeewww, I'm glad I'm a keeper; it's waaaay too snowy & cold to be outside. I forgot to mention last night, the finish on this buckel is called: ENAMEL so a search for antique enameled buckles ought to take you there or pretty close. Breezie

wow you people are good !!! Thanks for the info !! I could try cleaning up the front a little more but where it looks like dirt is actually where it has lost its paint.

(Buffing nails & saying 'you're welcome' LOL) I'd clean the back to see if there are any markings. Breezie
