Not sure I'll buy another minelab.

I have a 705, great machine, no problems of any kind in 4 years of regular use, so I'm a Minelab user. The question I would ask is why is there so much 'repairs' needed therefore generating large parts demands on those 2 machines (Xcal & 3030)?

FYI, Repair center repairs a lot of Xterra's and E series detectors as well. Excals and 3030s are used in salt water environments...........

I currently own a 3030, and I just bought a 3rd excal used that i am customizing to fit in a carry on luggage bag. Installing NEL Tornado 12x13" coil, Grey Ghost Amphibians headphones, remote pp mod, Anderson knobs and building a custom shaft that breaks down into 3 pieces, none longer than 24" so they can be placed diagonally in a 22" carry on bag.

Don't want 2 2500 dollar machines

Perfect backup to the 3030 is an excal. You can buy a good used excal for $600-$850, 2 of the 3 excals I own I paid less than $400 each for when I bought them and I customized them with new coils, head phones and pp mods.....

Had two 7000s stolen from me among other items. Got it all back just a few days later, the 7000s would not turn on anymore, they got sent off and after two months I was told they would be getting to them soon.

The way I see it is that such a perfect machine takes a proper technician to repair and I am sure there are not that many proper techs out their with the professional training required to troubleshoot and repair certain Minelabs.

I my self have been through a great deal of training and education in various fields in a few countries, never once had it crossed my mind, nor have I ever met someone who wanted to be a Minelab tech or MD tech for that matter. I do not know much on the subject at all but I have owned a few kinds of MDs over the years and I love how Minelab just kills it all, so I would think those techs are a minority among all techs.

Sort like needing some work done on your Unimog, sure any 4X4 shop out there has a few mechanics who will claim they can fix everything, but really you do not want to take your tugger to just anyone.

Just my thoughts, took months but well worth it and no way would I ever switch to a lesser due to miscare.

The excal has been good to me it just took them 13 weeks to repair it the 3030 is a design problem with the battery gasket which they say has never been and issue but we all know better than that that's why they came out with an updated gasket

Did you try the aftermarket gaskets? I also asked if you could get that software working? And the usb. Now my usb won't work and my emails are being ignored. By minelab.
