where's-my-gold?
Ha, I just had to jump on the "where's my gold" band wagon. seriously though, 9 musket balls? I probably have a dozen others from the same spot.

New England, which should really all be one state, because they're so little .
I don't think they're super old. probably 50 caliber modern black powder. I don't mind modern gold either.

Well, over the past couple of weeks I pulled a couple dozen quarters, a couple dozen other coins, and about a dozen sinkers out of this hole-I could just smell the gold..
I went back today after the big weekend storm hoping for even more washout, only to find it all badly sanded in. Up ahead, where its typically populated in the summer, truck after truck was renourishing the beach with sand. Double-bummer.

I could be wrong but look similar to these (except the large piece and other non round one) - these aren't musketballs
they are from WW I shells that were fired in Cape Cod bay from a beach

compared to these which are musketballs

Cool diagram - why were they shooting those on the cape cod? Mine seem smaller than the ones in your hand but hard to say for sure.

when I starting finding mine - I thought they were musketballs too
then I started finding brass pieces out farther at low tide

at tachment.jpg
- I posted and got responses that they were WW I
type artilliary shells - but I did not know the shells contained lead shrapnel till that diagram was recently posted
they had Harbour defenses all around the Bay and outsides of the Cape - they probably did target practice
during off season in certain areas
But then again you may have musketballs - just they look very similar to ones in my hand

Yes -excellent info here. Reminds me about that mustard gas those fishermen dug up about a year ago.
