Notched birdpoint....

Found this little notched birdpoint today after diggen some seng on the way out of the woods in a clearcut.

Eh forgot to rub a little dirt into those notches, good eye targe was hoping noone would notice that. Found 81 seng today 1 four prong. Last picture is from a hunt a couple days ago. Haven't fell off any cliffs yet .

Great artifact. How much do think the ginseng will sell for this year? I only got 250.00 for mine last year. I like to find it, and found about forty plants in a couple of hours today. The money really isn"t worth the time at 250.00. But I am time rich----- and money poor. Thanks for the pics.

Thanks folks. I'm lookin to get 500 to 600 lb dry this year, right now we can only sell wet for 10 more days and its 80 to 100 lb wet so i would say it will start at 4 maybe 450 and raise a bit through end of sept and into oct. In most cases your right time vs the money but if you scout a lot or out a lot throughout summer and you know where to look when it comes in then you can do pretty good in a good year. Last year was terribleI only sold 2 lbs . I stopped digging when I realized the price was going nowhere. good luck.

Nice point and seng haul. I'm not seeing alot of berries this year, found a few dozen plants but I'm going to give them a couple years. I planted alot of seeds 3 years ago and they're doing well, just too young to dig. I'm hoping the market rebounds well in a few years. It's been somewhat downhill since 07. You're doing well at 5 or 6 per lb.

I only found/sold a pound last year. The gov. has so much control on it that if we sold it right to China. We would get 500.00 on average. I have found very few plants with berries this year I plant them at one inch. Last year I found no berries! It must have been the dryness. I woukd like to get the name and person who is buying your roots. Send me a PM.

Thanks for the replies on the point. I really like it I don't usually find birdpoints very often, and when I do it' s those dag gone junky ft ancient triangles J/K so to find one notched and that small was strange for me. 37 on the seng I'm not saying I'll get 5 or 6 but I'm hoping. I've planted well over 400 berries this year I'm finding berries on nearly every plant . A lot I've come across have a few laying around the plant waiting for mother nature to do with them as she pleases, some to make it some to not, lucky I was there to increase the chance and give that hollar another future load. Gotta love Sept. !!!!

Looks like a big old root to me. Had to be a four prong. I do know the general area of were I have planted a lot of seeds. But I was thinking of taking a GPS unit along with me and storing the locations of all the planting locations on it. I have about 500 acres of woods I hunt and it gets confusing sometimes. Just a idea. Keith.

GPS marks is a great idea. I used to mark plants with ribbons but that makes it too easy for anyone to figure out what I'm marking. I may have to bust out the GPS on my morel hotspots as well. Thanks for the idea Keith.
