Picked up two boxes from the bank today and box one had one 1968 and six novelty coins. I hen stopped at a Wells Fargo and he lady had two dollars worth of halves. Two were clad and he other two were a 67 and 68ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1471402306.835939.webp

What's the date on the Balboa? Those were minted by the U.S. mint if I'm not mistaken, and their silver content closely mirrors that of U.S. halves.

You are correct. The silver content is actually minted on the coin. They are 90% if minted before a certain date that I can't remember right now. It does seem to me that they continued using silver for a little while after we stopped.

I have a 73 and a 93. From the little research I done, it seems there may be proof coins and those are the ones with silver. Mine do not have the 999 stamped on them.

Hey guys. I have a chance to get a 1966 Panama balboa for $15. Is it 90%or40%? Its in about the same condition, if not better.

From what I researched, if it's silver it will be stiles silver on the reverse I think it is. Otherwise, it's just clad.

Also it's definitely not worth $15 unless it's an uncirculated coin.
