Recieved my first metal detector at 3 o'clock today.  Bought an ACE 250 from Kellyco.  Sent a money order to Nathan at Kellyco last Monday and the detector arrived today on time.  Nathan was as good as his word.  Thank you Nathan and Kellyco.

However...

The digging tool that comes with the ACE is a piece of junk.  Within 5 minutes it was broken, the neck just isn't strong enough. 

So my first hunt yielded a 2x2 piece of aluminum and a bent nail, lol... But if there really are as many Silver Dollars at 8+ inches as the ACE says there are in my backyard then I will amaze you all with my finds.

Hehe, I got the same deal as you two weeks ago. My digger died in the first hour as well! It is a piece of junk and they shouldn't include it, as it does not say good things about the company, even though it IS free! I also bought a Lesche, and it arrived today. Very nice tool, I think it will do well for me.

Good luck with your ACE, it takes some time to learn. Well, for most people. My wife seems to work the thing instinctively!

Well glad you got your detector and looking forward to seeing your finds once you find a digging tool that works for ya. I heard in another thread that the fiskers garden knife was on sale for $4 at many local hardware stores right now with a mail in rebate of $4 so if that is the case it is a very good price! That garden knife is sold as a digging tool by many dealers and is very popular. Might be worth checking into until you can go get the digging tool of your choice. Hurry up and get something....gotta go check all those targets in the yard!! Looking forward to seeing your finds!! You will have the hang of that 250 in no time at all!

Hey Rob....Know what you mean about the $1.00 readings. When I first got my MXT and went around my yard, I knew right away that there must have been an old bank there 100 years ago that exploded and threw silver dollars all over the place. We dig a few and learn very quickly. Best of luck with the ACE....great little machine from what I've read.

It took me three (3) outings to break my Kellyco digger. But that's because I had carpal tunnel surgery and was babying my grip.
