That's actually a decent way to handle it. If you found that in the U.S. I bet that you would be swamped with lawsuits from people trying to make a claim. So letting the authorities do that legwork might actually be an advantage. And with a find like that, these days simply keeping it and keeping quiet while trying to infiltrate it into your life would be very difficult with the AI and other tech tools the government has at their fingertips.

Some stuff from the 1960s screams hidden stash to me. Guessing someone who went through a tumultuous time in WW2.

Some of the stuff may have been collected from WWII, but there were other things dated to the 1960s that would have had to be added later. So it's either a progressive cache that was built for decades, or a collected cache that was stashed all at one time.

And since the police are involved BUT plan on seeing this gold to the findeers and maybe NOT the property owner either! Kinda like the gold train that was found in Europe and the Civil War gold coins that were found in the South and the feds dug it up and say they never found anything ! YEP it's gone !
