Now that's a good point

Samantha and Dad went out exploring around our new place in Va. this afternoon. The temps have been in the high 50's and today was an excellent day to explore. I had introduced myself to a couple neighbors who are farming the land behind us last week. We talked for a while, and they told me they had found some nice Native American artifacts through the years in the plowed sections of the field. We just started drying up after a good soaking rain so indeed today was a good time to look for some of those artifacts. It didn't take long (after Sammie fell asleep on my shoulder) I spotted the tell tale signs of quartz chips scattered about. I looked to my left and a good 20 yards away, stood this brilliant white stone resting on top of the recently plowed Virginia soil. As I approached closer, there was no doubt it was a point. A beautiful quartz point fully intact. I spent a little more time picking a few more when Samantha awoke and we headed home. Here are my finds today.
Enjoy!

No, she looks like me. LOL
Thanks fellas. Sammie will be 1 year old in just over a week.
Can you believe that already?

You think it is quick now then wait , You will be going to a holiday Dinner at her house and you grandchild will be playing just like she did with you. And you will look back and wonder how it happened so fast and were did all the time go.

But it will be great when you are doing so , and you will never forget all the great times you had getting to that point in your life.

I now have four grandchildren that want me to come and visit all the time now. Would not trade it for anything .

Re: Now that's a good point

Seems pickens are good on that field. You were not there long ? Haven't put any effort into finding any for quite some time now. A great way to spend some time for sure.

Really? That would be really cool. I guess I need to get back out there. :D Here's what I learned about Chalcedony Stones:

*Native American Indians believed chalcedony was a sacred stone and used in the spiritual ceremonies of the tribe.

It is thought to increase vitality, stamina, and endurance and to promote emotional balance and charity while relieving melancholy, fever, gallstones, and eye problems.

Can anyone help confirm this?

Re: Now that's a good point

Great pic Mike!!That is what it is all about.I take my 5 year old when I can and she digs worms all day long....loves it!!Everytime I dont take her and I see a worm I think of her!

Re: Now that's a good point

nice finds mike, glad to see you guys settling in, good luck finding more.

Re: Now that's a good point

Wow! Nice finds, that's a very productive field. Not sure on type, the second point maybe a Palmer, 7,000-9,000 years old. It does look like the third and fourth pieces might be chalcedony, maybe others as well. Welcome to V.A.

Re: Now that's a good point
