This morning I met "kimsdad" and "Des Plaines Silver Bob" out at the old
scout camp and within the first hour of our hunt, I was able to cross off two items
from my "to find" list. . . a Buffalo Nickel (1926-P) and a solid gold class ring. . . finally :P

Now the real hunt begins.
The class ring is from a local high school in our area (class of 1971) so next week
I'll check with the school office and see if they can help out in tracking down it's owner.

Take care & thanks for looking!

Watercolor,

It is good to see you out and hunting with two other great detectorists. I bet you fellas had a great time out in the field.

I have only found about 2 or 3 Buffalo nickels in my career. Congrats on your first, buddy!

I don't think this is the same place. . . this camp is near Palatine just off Quentin road. If you ever want to hunt there, let me know, I'd love to join you.

I really hope you're right. . . after graduating 37-years ago, I hope it's owner can be tracked down. . . maybe through the school's alumni association or the ring company which is stamped inside.

Thanks kyle.
It's funny, I've found 8 V- Nickels out there this year while another hunting buddy was finding nothing but Buffalos ???

Thanks again everyone for the comments!

What more can be said ?
A lot....
Thanks for the invite.
It was a great pleasure to be there for your "FIRST GOLD RING " and your " FIRST BUFFALO NICKEL "
The smile on your face was awesome to see.
This hobby is such a joy....

Sorry my back wasn't feeling so good to stick around longer, but then on the other hand I guess I stayed around just long enough.

I hope you can find the owner thus giving more joy to this hobby.

Neil, Next time out we will get something good with these SE's

Mark again a BIG .................................
