It depends on the tone mode you are in and the composition of the metal. You have a choice of 1,2,5, and 50... you can also run 3 tones in a custom setting.
With 50 tones you would may hear a difference but if they are both the same type of metal you'd hear a faint tone and a louder tone on the two targets, both in the same pitch.
