Oak Island is a private Island and is closed until further notice. Tours are NOT being scheduled for 2022 and the Interpretive Centre will remain closed to visitors until further notice.

Why is Oak Island closed to the public?
1 - The whole crew packed up and won't be back.
2 - They will be working 7 days a week to extract the treasure.
3 - Pressure on the Government to let them work the entire Island.

An interesting development. Could be any of the above or something similar. The only thing certain is that it's NOT because a lack of tour customers; it would still easily get enough tourists to pay for the tour buses, docents, etc for at least another season.

Maybe not cancelled yet. Equipment started arriving at Oak Island two days ago. May 13th - New tractor (front end loader) on a flatbed, five 4-seater ATV's, and lots of vehicles. Yesterday - Two new construction trailers. My guess is a busy work schedule that keeps the public out.

The photos that I posted were taken by a family that owns property on Crandall Rd. close to the Oak Island Causeway. They have owned the property for 20 years and keep a close eye on Oak Island Drive.

Oak Island was closed to the public much earlier than 2020. The exception were tours by Oak Island & The Friends of Oak Island tours. The causeway has been posted with signs and years ago a swinging gate. Nothing has really kept the public from driving across the causeway. I think the "2022 Closed to the Public" will meant just that.

No, I'm not calling it a treasure hoax. That could lead to a defamation lawsuit. I would really be surprised if they found treasure, but then most treasure finds are surprising. I think I know where they should look.
