Due to having an amazing fiance and equally awesome sister-in-law I spent the weekend in Ocean City MD doing my first ever winter beach hunt. I ended up having amazing weather for both days and came away with my first piece of gold jewelry in a nice little 10k butterfly pendant. I also nabbed my first foreign coin, a 25 bani from Moldova!
I spent over 12 hours on the beach between the two days. Even did some night detecting with a headlamp. The beach was extremely clean due to the recent beach rehab (that I didn't know about) so targets where hard to come by, even trash. I dug 4 tabs and 3 bottle caps the whole time, and I dig everything non-ferrous. I plan on going back later to see how the beach looks after the rehab settles in. For now I am really pleased with my little butterfly. This one is going in my display case at home.
I also pulled up a piece of plated jewelry (looks like the top to a ring missing it's stone) and the obligatory handful of clad. I got lucky with wave action because they formed up several little sand bars at low tide and I hit a lot of the clad and the jewelry in the troughs between the shore and the sandbars. Great start to 2018 !
