This is a little late posting, but it's the first chance I've had. On New Years Day, I took my youngest grandson out into the pasture to see what we could find. We found alot of trash and beer cans from the 60's and 70's, they had the old style pull rings, and also some implement parts. This pasture has been in my wifes family since the 40's, and they were not farmers. No telling how old those parts are. The strangest item found was an old single bit axe head. The flat part on the rear of the head was mushroomed out, as if it had been blown up, so it didn't come as a shock when we found a few older style blasting caps about 20 feet away from the axe head. Only 2 of the caps were still active, and all have been disposed of properly. So I guess we will have to find another place in the pasture to hunt. It would have been bad, digging a hole, and having one of those caps detonate. It reminded me of when I was a kid living south of Dallas, there were ads on the TV warning about finding blasting caps in the woods, and who to call. At least now, all of my grandkids have learned what the older oneslook like, and how to handle them.

Happy Hunting to all....as weather permits. Stay safe, and HAVE FUN!!!

This is a great post. I'm glad you taught the kids what they look like, and the harm they could cause.

I really like the poster. The caps we found looked like the second cap above the C on the lower part of the poster. The caps I have worked with in the military looked like the black wire electronic cap on the upper right part of the poster
