...Odd fur trade item (2nd one found).

A few years back I found one of these (slightly deformed but of the same design). This week I found another one. They appear to be made of pewter... finding nothing similar in the usual resources. ??

Looks a little like a ripe buckeye nut. Or another husked nut.
I tried to make a thistle out of it ,but no luck....
