Thanks to you and BC in the whatsit forum for the ID. Im thinking the 2 rings are also older than the lake. I also found several UMC shells and peters shells In the water. Very odd for a lake that was finished in the 60's
I need to go back and land hunt down the hill that goes into the lake.
Why wouldn't one expect to find things older than the lake in the lake? Face it, some guy that is 60 years old in a boat looses his knife the got when he was 10? If it was lost in 1960 then it was new in 1910. Same goes for rings.
Nice finds but I don't consider them unusual for a 1960's era lake.
Im glad folks swim with there jewelry on, But I don't, and I sure wouldn't carry a 50 yr old knife around. But thats just me. And the shoot-gun shells?
Im thinking I have a old place that was used long b-4 the lake was there. Its next to one of the highest points on the lake. A bluff overlooking the Valley b-4 it was flooded.
The ring looks like it has an indian Thunderbird design on it.
The knife sure looks pretty old. I can imagine there is a lot to find in and around the area. Maybe you can find some old topo maps which will give you an idea of structures around the lake, and before it was filled.
Looks like you are giving that new 1280x a good workout Albert. I did a lot of lakeshore shallow hunting when I first got into detecting and found my first gold ring that way along with several of those tiny silver toe rings that was so popular with the ladies. Great finds and a lot of neat finds. Monty
