That particular backmark is not listed in any of my reference but I was able to find some info on the internet. Samuel Wanamaker was born in 1848 and died in 1904. Your button is most likely from the last quarter of the 19th century. The screen shot is just for a time frame. I haven't found your button yet.

Thanks guys. The L&N came to this area in 1881.
i searched the web for a while and could only find the logo that is commonly used.
It’s nice to have some people confirm this and also have a date.

It is hard to find it on line, but it is listed and shown in VanCourt's book on railroad buttons.

Thanks again guys. I have had this button since the early spring.
I kinda gave up on trying to ID it.
It had only recently hit me that it could be L&N.
This makes it a little more special, since it was local.
