I had a fun hour and half hunt this evening before dark. I didn’t get as old of finds as I was hoping for but it was nice to hear a good old coin spill signal again. It’s been awhile and most of the fun is seeing how many coins will keep popping out. This spill had 7 coins in it. Five large cents, a single nickel and a single silver dime. The breakdown was a 1918 Canadian large cent, a 1919 Canadian large cent, a 1909 Canadian large cent, a 1904 Newfoundland large cent, a 1919 Canadian large cent, a 1929 Canadian nickel and a 1921 Canadian dime. It’s funny that it proves again that even though small cents were well into circulation how much those large cents were still being used and also how much the Newfoundland coinage was still floating around in circulation. Also during the hunt I found some other odds and ends plus three other coins along the way. A blank disc, another 1918 Canadian large cent and a 1920 Canadian large cent. The winner of the night has to be the 1904 Newfoundland one cent from the spill. It was only made for three years and 1904 is the key date with only a 100,000 mintage. Thanks for looking! If it were possible to stay a couple of steps in front of you out detecting...oh the coins that would be found!

The coins always seems to get out in front of you wherever you go!

Kevin, great hunt, I'm in my late 60's and remember large cents in change when I was a kid, and a lot of silver

That would be cool to actually see large cents in the change. If only would’ve know to pick them and silver coins out at the time! Haha
