actually not a splitting axe, any splitting axes or mauls were thicker. this in my mind is a felling axe or something along those lines. Hey I could be wrong thoughSingle blade splitting axe. Sorry, don't know where everyone's been for two days.
Yes the splitting mauls are thicker on both the splitting end and the heavy end for power in splitting sawed firewood, but these were more used more for kindling or small burning wood....or so my dad told me.
