Old beer can

I found an old beer can (nothing new there) which had an aluminum top you had to open with a can opener. The side wall was apparently tin as this was rusted away. A locally brewed beer, Gibbons appears on the top. Can anyone date pre pull tab beer cans?

Flat top, yes. Made from aluminum with the Gibbons logo in red lettering.
