I picked this brass chamberstick up at the local place. It sure looks old and some I see online that look very similar are saying theirs are from around the 1830s. Mine looks like it's lived a long life. It seems to be missing a device that props the base of the candle upward as it burns down and also I can see a little hole in the finger hold that may have been for a candle snuff? I'm not seeing these are worth a whole bunch, but the price was good. The base measures 6-1/2" x 7-3/4" and it stands 4-3/4" tall.

Its an oldie for sure.
I do think it a period piece. I like finding old things at thrift stores. Even if I don't find anything it really interests me to see what there. Brings up old memories and you very often find useful items such as good brand name tools for really cheap. My kitchen cutlery consists of a few Henckels made in Germany and not the imports they make today. Those I use all the time.

Over the years i ammased a nice collection of cutlery... CutCo Henckels etc...
I have sold them all off except for odds .. well used... and ones i use regularly.

Many people just walk by cutlery not realizing there can be some serious money in the knife bins.

PS... I have bought and sold many entire (block and all) cutlery sets at flea markets eons ago.

Now you rarely see the whole sets... and when you do they want too much from me anyway
