My detecting buddy at work has an old "something or other" that he would like to have ID'd. It looks to have the same design on front and back and it is rather thin. Cant really tell what its made of. Brass or copper maybe.

Yep........thats gotta be what it is. You da man Buckram 8)

I was thinking it might be an old Roman coin or something. I was right on one account though....it is old :D

Are jetons worth anything? ???

It does look like a nurenberg, probably a definite German coin. 1400-1600 maybe, I'll check later in my German coin book. I have found a few coins with orbs on them here in Germany. Is it possibly silver? HH, Mike

Oh well.......My buddy was hoping it was a rare old coin and worth alot ::) He said if I could find out what it was and how much it was worth....we both would have a new detector.
Maybe since I have found out what it is......he'll go ahead and buy me a new detector. ;D lol

Mike.......its not silver. It has a brassy look to it.

I haven't found any bronze German coins to date, are you sure it isn't stained silver? Check out this coin weight I found, at least I think it is a coin weight. It has the same orb as your coin on it. I think it is made of bronze. Will look in the book as well. HH, Mike

Nope.......not silver either. Has a "flat" sound when dropped on the counter....not the high distinct sound of silver.

Thats a cool looking thing you got there. Definately the same orb symbol.
