I was out DT'ing over the weekend in a yard that a private Home is on. along a historic (treasure beach). somewhere in FL, I was using my Eclipse 5.3 coil, due to some trash, I was tying to single out the better targets My DFX read it as a Dime or Penny, at about 6", so hoping for a bit of silver I dug..... it's 2" x? 5/8" , & it weighs 1oz.? I have thought maybe Lightning fused a chunk of coins together? or scrap from an old foundry maybe casting propellers for boats or something?, there are no factory's in the area only mansions & condos, it was dirt not sand I was digging but shells were mixed in everywhere in the soil, & yards are flat everywhere so I dont think it could have been fill dirt from another location, but I could be wrong, I cleaned it with lemon juice so it could have caused the luster, the glass chunks range in colors from green & clear to dark amber,

here are the pics, Thanks to all the forum members in advance, I love this place! Tx friends

Re: Unknown Find - Glass embedded in a gold colored metal, copper probly? but why &

It was a stained glass window on an old pirate ship that was hit by lightning! Actually, no clue at all but that thing is really neat, it's got me thinking real hard about what it could possibly be... Thanks for sharing.

I think you may have to be burning coal to get a sufficient amount of heat, although there was not that type of trash in the yard,... no signs of burn pit or any other debris.
copper melting properties are as follows...

Copper (CU)
Melting Point: 1083.0 ?C (1356.15 ?K, 1981.4 ?F)
Boiling Point: 2567.0 ?C (2840.15 ?K, 4652.6 ?F)

Bronze (copper & tin)
Melting Point (Liquidus) 1790 F
Melting Point (Solidus) 1590 F
Pouring Temperature (Light) 2000-2150 F
Pouring Temperature (Heavy) 1850-1950 F

Brass (copper & zinc) melts at about 1800 as well
