I can upload more pics if need be.

One in hand is of one side. Two on towel are of the other side, both same side though.
I know, its probably unidentifiable, but thanks for looking. Must be an old one. hh an gl -Joe

Whatever soil you found that in really did a number on it. Can't tell anything from the pic. I've dug up memorial pennies that looked like that. gl

Put the coin on a dark background for additional pics.

As Don said, direct "overhead" shots. No angles.

Any additional info about where you found it and what you found nearby might help as well.

3 more pics here. Don't know weight. No scale, lol. Thanks for looking. Site is an old park in massachusetts. I found a buffolo nickel and what seems to be a bullet too.

3 more overheads, one with bullet I found too. Bullet was 10 feet from coin.

Site has given up an indian head once, in 2003.

Is it thicker than a cent? Could be an IH fatty -- they tend to get pretty bad in the ground. Try giving it a few soaks in boiling hydrogen peroxide--it should loosen up that crud and you'll be able to see what it is.

I thought IH when I first got it too...but its not thicker then penny. Could be really really old and warn that thin though. I think this one is just plain too far gone to ID. I wanna hit this place again. Thanks all for looking and helping. hh an gl -Joe

It is suspiciously the same shape as a penny. But..its just not close to anywhere near fert. I think its an old coin...an we will never know. Sigh. Will hit spot again tomorrow. If I can just get the department to stop making busy work of dumping crushed asphalt and rocks to make a path an prevent erosion. Its a shame, historic site is being degraded by ... busy work. hh an gl, thanks for looking. -Joe

Best thing to do with that coin is ..I know it seems wrong ..but scratch it with a key and the outline and date can come out. Only do that if your really wanting to know what it is and you know there's not a chance it could be valuable. From the pic.. I would do it. I've done that to several coins to find the date. Not on silver

i take old coins that are pretty much toasted and have good results with rubbing them with hot sauce (louisianna supreme). word of warning though, dont use it on good or valueable coins.
