I found this engraved ring at a 1700s homestead I've been detecting.

The original homesteaders had a daughter who's name started with an H. She was born in 1806.

Its pretty small. It barely fit my wife's pinky and she has thin fingers.

Any ideas on how old it is? Is it gold, gold plated, brass? How do you tell?

All opinions are appreciated!

It seems to be gold plated brass. You can see the brass (reddish patina) poking through where the gold leaf has worn off.

Great looking save on the old ring. That is something to know a little something or a little History of who the owner of this ring was. Well Done. Hit this old site hard and take your time. Continued Success to you.
