I found this in a agricultural field in Greenwich NJ, it was about 10-12 inches deep. This area has allot of colonial history, one of the most pounded areas near me.
It's about three inches long ID is 5 sixteenths.
It has a symbol/trademark on side with possible makers mark above that?
Smooth bore, with, I think, looking into the muzzle, hole coming from outside, what looks like a spot where a nipple for a percussion cap would have been?

Check out the pix, Oldjerseygirl was with me, she found a roached out flat button, could just make out Plated on the backmark.

This is the mark, what I'm seeing with my loop

Dag boy you are onto this land stuff...!! Love the Gun!! VC! ..:notworthy:

Treble, that's a really awesome pistol barrel. Looks tiny, like maybe from a pocket pistol or boot pistol. Great find and I'm sure it'll display great. Would love to dig one of those one day.

Gun barrel...
WD Treble...
Water too cold these days ? :)

Those old pistols are a very nice find!
I've seen more than a few found over the years and can't wait to get one for myself.
Great job on the recovery!

That's a great find...one of the best gun parts to be found in my opinion.

You know...
I have to lean toward this opinion as well...
Hmmm...

Maybe a banner is in order here ?

WOW !! That is so cool! 1800s gun barrel, I keep thinking who held it last, what happened. It would be great to reconstruct the gun for display purposes. Congrats!! HH

That's a great find indeed, it'll look awesome in the display.

Not a very common find. I can't even find a modern day gun in a crime infested area. You would think more than a few have been ditched over the years.
Very cool save.

I'm going to talk with a gunsmith today or tomorrow about getting it restored! Great minds think alike.
Thanks

Thank you, I'm wondering just how rare this particular gun is?

WTG Brad, That's the 1st one of those I have ever seen. What does a barrel ring in at?
