🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Old Knife?

Found this knife handle? Old axe and hoe today near where I found part of a harmonica reed yesterday. Wondering if anyone can come up with any clue as to age and what type of knife this might be Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately I don’t have it but I’ve seen it many times on t- net, there’s a diagram id’ing axes by the shape, your axe looks identifiable, if you can get that and an age, you’ll have a good idea on the knife too.

The knife looks like some sort of utility knife rather than tableware. All 3 items look very old.

Thanks. I have found many axes and hoes on this property and all the axes and the hoes look pretty much the same. The knife was just a little different compared to others I have found. Also found where I didn’t think there had been farming and could not have washed uphill. Went back today and searched up and down hill but only found early 1900’s shotgun shells.

By the shape of the blade, your knife could be a Spanish dagger. This is a Spanish dagger. You can tell the difference between that and a kitchen or utility knife by the thickness of the upper edge of the blade. Daggers are thick along to top edge.

The Spanish dagger was the model Bowie used for his knives made in the early 1800s.

French knives are called chefs knives also. Sometimes whatever can be gotten ahold of becomes the days knife. Or longer.
Sources varied from the kitchen to a trader or a store.
Kitchen perhaps the most dangerous if you were a youth and lived in the same home.. Don't mess with Moms knives!
