Re: old mining shack from the 1850's.....still has old gear in it

Good info Darrell :icon_thumleft:

They looked like common Sumac to me. :dontknow:
Hard for me to tell without a closeup of a leaf. You could crush some up and see if they stink like bad peanuts. If they do then you have Tree of Heaven for sure.

No use looking in the tailings if the Chinese were there, they didn't miss anything. :tongue3:

Re: old mining shack from the 1850's.....still has old gear in it

beautiful! spend some time in and around that shack, you never know what secrets it may hold!

Re: old mining shack from the 1850's.....still has old gear in it

Darrell ,,,,, the trees in the picture all around the shed are Spanish walnuts...the nuts are round like a large gum ball...not shaped the same as a regular walnut..... the size of the nut is between a quarter and a half dollar piece in diameter...... the early Spaniards brought their nut trees over from Spain when they were exploring the new world.....these trees are descendants of those trees.... though there some trees on the property I can not id.......they are very tall, have a broad leafy kind of hart shaped leaf and the tree produces long seed pods kind of like green string beans.and there are some very old cotton wood trees near by as well..... I might have some pictures.......I will up load as soon as I find them.....

Re: old mining shack from the 1850's.....still has old gear in it

here are the tree pictures.......first one I can not Id.....heart shaped leaf green string bean seed pods.....then the cotton woods some are so big....they fall over.....ok.....here are the mine pictures......as well.....these pictures are of the logan mine.....this mine was claimed way back when.....so.....well lets say.....its claimed again......jack filed and got the paper work back....lock stock barrel......it still has gold in the hard rock....but this is a very UN-safe and UN-stable hole.....if any viewers want to check it out.....please stay out.....though I did document the conditions of the inside......this mine is located just off of the property.......then.....just behind this mine shack in the first photo are these rocks......some I believe Apache Indians must of had a settlement in on and around the rocks.....as per the evidence I found.....pottery...arrow heads and points all hand carved..... there is so much history on this property it is unreal.....the general cook trail is just a stones throw away as well.......and a lot of virgin ground......so here are more pictures......

Re: old mining shack from the 1850's.....still has old gear in it ,,,,new pic's

The tree you can't ID is definitely a Catalpa tree. :icon_thumleft:
When it flowers in the early summer check to see if the flowers are white or pale yellow, the yellow species (Catalpa ovata) comes from China.

Great pics! I would love to find an unmolested mine site in my area to explore...

Re: old mining shack from the 1850's.....still has old gear in it ,,,,new pic's

GREAT PIC.! WONDERFUL PIECE OF HISTORY.
I NOTICED THAT THERE IS ELECTRIC SERVICE IN THE BACKGROUND OF ONE OF THE PICS.
IT MAKES ME WONDER IF THE DIRT FROM THE POST HOLES HOLDS ANY COLOR.
THEY DID THE HARD DIGGIN' WITH A BIG DRILL AND SOME OF THE DIRT HAS BEEN
DISPLACED FOR SOMEWHAT EASY COLLECTIN' AND PANIN'. :dontknow:

GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS.
:coffee2: :coffee2:
