Got out the last two days and hunted two different parks . Yesterday was a newer park , nothing old to be found . I did find ring #21 , a very small sterling silver ring . Also found some Scout stuff , a Pinewood Derby medal and a scout slide . The two charms are just plated .
Today I hunted an older park . I believe it dates back to the 1920's . I have hunt it many times over the past 16 years and it doesn't give up much anymore . Today was different :icon_thumright: . At 4 inches I had a +77 on my MXT PRO . I was very happy to see silver in the hole , cut 1919 Mercury dime :headbang: . It's the first Mec of 2013 . The other good coin found was a 1945 wheat at around 5 inches .
Total clad for both hunts was $11.17  .
Finally have work tomorrow so back to hunting weekends only .

Good hunt, they were hard on that Merc.

Pl8man, just wondering, how do you manage to find dates on parks? Of all the info out there, that is the one thing I seem to be having trouble with. Any info would help.

WooHoo, Glen is going back to work. This gives me a half chance to catch up to his ring count.

This one was easy to date due to the houses around it . They all date from the 1920's and 30's . Also you sometimes can find old views of the parks on the web .

That's funny :laughing7: ! As it turns out it will not be for long :BangHead: . Only a weeks worth for now but it's better than nothing :icon_thumright: .

Nice wheatie, sweetie! Some welcome silver there too. I did some looking on that token. Some say it's vintage and some say it's not. I'm sure the one you have though is vintage. In either case it's a nice one. I am amazed at all the scout scarf clips you guys dig. One of these days we'll think of some way to repurpose them!

great finds. I remember the pinewood derby when i was a cub scout

Plateman. I think I found the exact same ring yesterday.

Guys if you want to date a park, just call the city parks office or check their website. The info is there, and the good thing is that whether you call or google it, you can find the sites history. As in what was there before the park. If for some weird reason the website doesnt have it and no one answers the phone, the local appraisal district will usually have it on file. And finally in a last ditch attempt, which should actually be one of the first steps is google image for old maps of your area. They are always dated.

Awesome finds BTW!

Looks like Lady Liberty was "quick" enough to avoid being clipped! :laughing7:
