Picked up a stack of older postcards from an auction. Just trying to figure them out. I've been able to research a few, but others I can't find much. They all date from 1908(oldest I think?) - 1940?. Most are European, mainly French. There's at least 1 that's an original photograph postcard. It's of a cafe in Beograd(Belgrade), Serbia. I think that places it in the 1940s maybe pre war. Several of them have been stamped and mailed (not sure if that increases or decreases value, but sure adds a story to it). The big group of French ones in picture 8 I know are not worth much. I really like the German ones in picture 4. I've tried to match front/back pictures together. I didn't take pictures of the back on some of them, nothing to show on that side. The few I've been able to find online range $2-8 each. Are there any in here that would generate enough interest to be sold at auction on eBay as opposed to BIN? Thanks for any help.

Never had much luck with postcards but you might since they are foreign. US topics seem to only sell in the area where they were from and then usually a buck or two each. On the flip side I have used local post cards many times to discover new places to detect. Old fairgrounds I didn't know existed, etc. Even a whole town that's since disappeared. Example.. Here is Hill NH from a postcard view in the 1930s and a picture I took of the exact same spot today..

Check the links I posted above. These and a few others will buy your post cards as a lot. I've never had to go as low as $3 - 4 when selling a lot of 30 or 40. Sheese, a buck or two, may as well start an album for the kids.

i don't see anything that need be listed at auction. Nice cards but common ones.

Hey I have some info on these, at least the ones from the first picture.
At Porte de Vanves in Paris there's an antique / vintage market - there are a few vendors that deal in these.
They go from about 2.50 to 6.00 euros depending on the date, stamp, condition and of course image.
For example I paid about 5 euros for a postcard of my town that featured a zeppelin in the sky.

As for the others not worth much unless it's a love letter.

Hope this helps

Any RPPC card, (real photo post card) may generate more interest than a linen card. If you have street scenes or buildings that are from 1908 period, and they are RPPC then you may get a couple who may have some personal interest in the scene. Maybe their hometown, an old landmark, or just a before look at how the town has changed. Whatever the liking, it may mean a few more bucks in an auction setting. But again, it would have to be a card with a good scene, and a real photo card. It is certainly worth a try.
