Old Rivets in leather

These rivets appear to be in leather or at least something flexible. The back of the rivets have a "C" in the center, it might be kind of difficult to make out in the photo.

Any idea what this once was?

I've found many like that as well....probably off a horse harness of some kind.
And man do they do ring up like a coin!

We are finding them like crazy at a new permission that dates back to the 1820s.

I found 4 in a horse pasture about 2 months ago.

I find them around one of my sites with a little leather usually attached. My thought was from a saddle or or harness also. At one little area there , I most of dug eight or nine brass buckles and a stirrup. I think a saddle rotted out in that spot.

I find tons of them. all sizes. From boots to horse harness, many uses. They always sound good.
