Old School site doesn't give em up too easily

After seeing that great pocket spill of 3 old coins posted earlier, I got the bug to go back to this old school site in the woods again. Last time I came up with just a broach, but I liked it. This time wasn't very productive either. Tell me if this is a button or a cuff link, has a different kind of mechanism in the back that opens up. It has a pat. date of Dec. 2nd 1884. Also, I found this round ball laying on top of the soil at the front step location of the school. It doesn't register on the machine or a magnet, did they use to have clay marbles at one time? That's all I can think of unless it was just a perfect rock. It only has the one little dimple you can see in the pic. Spent most of the day scouting out some potential spots and I "think" I have located an old picnic grove. You will be the first to know if it is.

Where is PBK when you need him? I think it is a cuff link and I believe clay marbles where made but I'm not sure of time period. D.D.

Sounds like a great hunt. Had similar problems with detecting old school sites. Very hard to give up their goodies.....
