Not sure what this is it appears to come unscrewed but it is dented
any ideas?

Anything on the bottom? Attaching points? Fitting connections? mounting bosses? Anything like that? If not maybe a seltzer bottle missing the nozzle and trigger?

Possibly an older type grease gun. They didn't use a tube of grease. You stuck the nozzle in a bucket of grease and drew some out. Sort of like filling a hyperdermic needle
