Old Spoon fragment & Sanctus Bell in the Enchanted Forest
Hello all,
Went on a random stone wall search in what I believe were a Colonial Governors fields, and a shortcut to the town center.
The scenery is pretty spooky, stranglers all over the trees, stone walls almost sunk from view, fallen trees, & ones that are about to fall, I thought was hearing people talking a few times. a creepy & wierd hunt.
Best find & very deep, early riveted spoon bowl, was riveted to a handle that was not anywhere nearby, I excavated & searched a large area around the find.
shown with an heirloom copper spoon (allegedly 1600s era, 1 rivet & solder) that I inherited, for comparison, the found spoon appears an older design.
two brass items, unmarked whatsits, possibly weights?
And what I thought was going to be the best Find of the Hunt,(judging by signal and location, dead center between 3 large trees.
A nickel plated brass bell, 2-7/8" diameter, looks like it had attachment for 3 clappers.
Believe it is a Roman catholic 'Sanctus Bell', as they have multiple clappers. close match,Bottom pic. found close to 1800s church.
A brass acorn & oak leaf piece , kinda goes with that Squirrel token posted earlier.
Also, what looks like another musket trigger guard escution plate ??
No early coins from this area yet, but I think anyone on foot or horseback would take this route rather than the main road, Will keep hunting here.
Thanks for looking! & HH to all
