These items were dug from "dantheman's secret spot" that I was fortunate enough to hunt. Weird thing is that he blindfolded me on the way there so I couldn't find my way back to it . . . Oh well, it was worth it and I can understand him wanting to keep this one quiet, in a short time, we have dug a lot of old stuff. If you have any idea how old this stuff is, lemme know - thanks, Ian

Ian,
Those are my kind of relics. Congrats. Looks like CW era to me. (buttons, umbrella piece, etc.)
Have you been able to get that pocket watch open yet? Great find.
-MM-

Lots of odds and ends there. Nice button. Does it say London on it?

Did you open the pocket watch? Was wodnering what shape it was in on the inside.

Haven't opened the watch yet, too afraid to break it. I'll soak it in something for a while before I try. Umbrella piece? I didn't realize I had one, is that the sprocket looking thing near the bottom? I was wondering what that was, I've found two of those in the past and had no idea.

Is that from an old umbrella?

Ian

Yes, the button says London - I wonder how old it is? Ian

Nice finds. I really like the pocket watch. Will he blindfold me and take me next?

Yep, that round piece with the notches around it. I have found numerous ones in CW active areas. I have seen quite a few posted here on TN, and they all seem to come from CW era sites. Maybe parasol would be a better word?
Congrats,
MM

Wow. I did not know that. That's the third one of those I've found and you are right, now that I think about it, they are all from 1850-1870 sites. I'm going to find a picture of a complete parasol to see where it fits specifically. I didn't even realize they had umbrellas back then. I have seen victorian pictures with the women using parasols to keep the sun off of them, it's all making sense to me now. It's kind of a neat find and I thought it was garbage.

Spigot key, parasol clip, suspender clip... Excellent old house site relics!

Were these Fisher finds? ;D

Keep up the good work. Harvest is getting closer--and lemme tell you, there is nothing better than having a Fisher out in a harvested field. :)
