Old tool

This thing is 11" long and the round gearbox is 3" Dia. When you turn the crank, the shaft part makes about one revolution one direction then turns about half a revolution the other direction and repeats that motion as you crank it. the little flat T shared piece is attached in a slot with a cotter pin. It could be an automotive or heavy equipment tool, from the motion I thought maybe for resurfacing valve seats. anyone know what it is?

It's an old valve grinding tool. The valves in old engines, Hit & Miss Model Ts Tractors, Had slots in the head. The flat piece on the long end would fit in the slot to work the valve back and forth to set the valve in it' seat. Tony

Thanks tony, I finally found pic of one. the ones in pic have the suction cups but I did read that the older valves had slots or holes.
