Hit my one of honey holes before work. Interesting signal. Definitely silver sound, but mixed junk too. Etrac showed 8". I dug down and thought I hit junk. It turned out to be an old wallet with the change pocket full! The coins were all stuck together mixed in with carnival ride tickets. So after I soaked them a bit, they came apart. There's a silver half. Two silver Washington's (39 & 43), silver mercury dime, a buff, a Jefferson, and two pennies. One is a wheat. The other is crusted so bad I can't tell. And about 25 5cent ride tickets! All the coins are very crusty. And ideas on trying to clean? Thanks.

Wow that's an exciting find and recovery! Were you able to get any info from the tickets that would help date eps hen they were lost? (understand if you don't give specifics that would give away your site)

And I'm glad to see that they cleaned up and resulted in a nice pile of silver. What was the soil like- it's really rare to see them dug in that sort of condition.

The soil was a sandy kinda dark hard dirt. There's tons of goose crap all over. I think the whole combo does it. I e dug several there that were black and just nasty. These had layers of very hard crud glued to them. The merc took three trips into the electrolysis just to be able to see the silver lol. The pennies never cleaned up at all. I would of thought being in that change pocket, the coins wouldn't of been so bad. But heck....I'm not complaining!! The oldest coin was the 45 war nickel. So I'd guess close to that year. Great lucky find. Here's a little info......I know for a fact, I have walked over that area a few times. I recently bought a NEL 12.5x8.5 hunter coil, which I was using that day. Just lucky I guess.

Some poor guy lost his wallet long ago. For days he looked everywhere for it. Over time the wallet was swallowed by the Earth never to be seen by anyone again for nearly 70 years.

Sweet find, I had the opportunity of finding a coin purse last year. Nothing beats that feeling when you see coins inside, congrats and glad u got them cleaned up.
