I don't know if anyone else is interested, but I thought it might be fun to have a thread where people post the oldest coin found of each denomination for the year, for the whole group I mean.
So far we have:

1¢ - 1864 port ewen ace
5¢ - 1883 port ewen ace
10¢ - 1919 jasonscoins
25¢ - 1943 Twitch
50¢ - 1911 maverick

So if you find one older than these, post it, and we can keep a running list of who has the oldest find of each coin. Just an idea if anyone is interested.

Sounds like a pretty fun idea. I found a 1937 buffalo nickel in machine wrapped rolls this past weekend.

I haven't been able to hunt as much as I usually do this month, but here are my oldest finds so far.

Cents- 1918 Wheat Cent
Nickels- 1939 Jefferson Nickel

For 2016 this is my oldest so far, I just found it tonight in one of my boxes. I only search halves so I have no others to show, until I find an older one this year. It's a 1911 Barber. HH, Maverick.

You found an 1883 Nickel and a 1864 cent already this year? Damn, that's some great luck!

1925 Buffalo Nickel a few weeks ago
1911 Wheat Penny, found tonight, actually!

I just had a insane box this week in which this came out of

1907 Barber

Just found in box of cents, yesterday 1/31/16, a 1910-P cent in AG-G condition. It's still a keeper for the grandkids folders none the less. This is why I enjoy hunting cents over the now becoming junk silver.
