BTW, the methode of Gary sounds very good, he use max power to find the object and before he will dig, increment the disc to find out what is really in the ground. My favorite settings are disc 1, sens max as possible (70-85), notch foils and zinc out, the rest stays in.

What kind of signals do you dig with your omega set up the way you have it?

I wouldn't notch zincs out, that's what Indian heads come up as on mine.

Most of what I find is 3-5 inches deep, but that is due to where I'm looking are not old sites. A little over a week ago, I found 2 dimes; one was between 5-6 inches deep and the other was between 6-7 inches deep.

I hunt occasionally with a couple of other MD'ers that use Garrett machines (250, AT Pro)... and we generally get the same depth, but ID'ing is better with the Garrett as I'm typically dealing with EMI issues. Generally when hunting parks and schools... I'm usually in the 50-60 range on sensitivity due to the EMI.

If you are able to run at least 70 on the sensitivity... you should be reaching at least 7 inches, and should be getting decent ID'ing.

I live in Germany and do not expect indianheads, there not so much interesting things made of zinc ;)

I dig always when id goes up to 70+ regardless of "jumping" id's. Stable ptabs and scap signals also. Zinc brings modern trash like screws, nails, foil, tin cans and low euro cent coins. Aluballs are very clear displayed as nickel. The id'ing is very different between my Standard and my NEL tornado
