Have found several points over the years that seem to have been knapped around a pattern in the rock or a flaw of some type. Here is one that seems really cool to me. It is a Marion from Fla.

Knapping around inclusions is always iffy. Even if you manage to finish the point, it will always have that weak spot. Somehow your point survived everything.👍🏻

I would think that by getting the weak spot dead center like that it would give the point it’s best chance of lasting,

That's called a vug. Originally it was probably a crystal inclusion that the knapper probably did deliberately keep. But over the centuries it dissolved or fell out leaving the hole.
