I went down to the local park today and found my first gold for 2017 which was also my first class ring.
CLAD, a Peters 12ga. headstamp, 35 cal casing, a couple pins, iron trash and this ring.
I am digging low tones due to my last gold ring find ringing low on the Fisher. I dig all low tones now.
The first couple inches of ground frozen but beneath that the soil was loose.
The ring was a good 3 inches down.
What a feeling to find this ring.
Now I will find the owner.
I will keep you posted when the exchange happens.
I would love an honerable mention when it does.

That's a nice, big ring! Congrats!

Congratulations on the gold! Hope you find the owner. Either way it's a win-win for ya!

Great find will be an awesome moment giving that ring back.. Thanks for sharing it

Sweet ring Mark. :occasion14: The one I dug is inscribed. I think I found the owner on FB, too bad he hasn't posted in over a year and has moved to TN from OH. I'm still working on the return though.

Sweet ring. Was it the kind with a year on the side to narrow it down for you?

Congrats on that find, and good luck on the return.

Yes, it had the year and initials inside the ring.
UPDATE: I think I found the owner. I researched all the info on the ring and went to the library and got the year book which they had electronically.
There is only one individual that is a match.
I sent him a message and I am waiting for his reply.

Nice ring to start the year kind of you to search the owner:thumbsup:

Congratualtions on the gold ring find! :occasion14: Sure hope luck is with you and the owner can be found! :icon_thumleft:

UPDATE:
I connected with the owner of the ring and he was BEYOND excited.
He said he lost the ring 9 years ago and was just sick about it.
He dropped 100lbs right after high school so things were literally dropping off of him lol including this ring.
He just could not believe my honestly. He had thought someone found it and pawned the stone and or ring.
I explained to him that a detectorist's most prized moment is a return of something valuable or sentimental. It compares to the individual receiving the lost item that hasn't seen its owner for so long.
He moved out of the area and is a distance away so I shipped it to him and he should have it in 2 days. All I asked him for was a follow up on his receiving the ring.
This was my first ring return and it is truly an amazing feeling.
I hope to get to experience this feeling again.

Good going on finding the class ring and returning it....wtg.

Regards + HH

Awesome hunt! I'm curious ; what did the ring, ring up as? Was it jumpy or solid?

WHETHER I FIND AND RETURN IN PERSON - OR SEND OUT - ALL I ASK IS FOR A PIC - IF IN PERSON HANDING IT OVER
IF SENT OF THEM HOLDING IT UP - IVE NEVER TAKEN A REWARD YET - 9 TIMES OUT OF 10 - I FOUND ANOTHER GOLD RIGHT AFTER OR THE NEXT DAY
A FEW TIMES IT HAS BEEN MY NEXT TARGET - FEW TIMES THE NEXT DAY = GOLD WAS MY FIRST TARGET
WTG!
