I served in the US ARMY and am proud of it,My dad was a tail gunner on the rock and his plane was the wolf pack. here is a couple of poems I wrote Hope you all enjoy. I feel they say a lot.
FREEDOMS NAME
On a country road the other day,
I met a man with a message to say.
It was a message with meaning,
But not a promise of a new beginning.
As along that country road we strolled
His story to me he told.
A soldier went away to fight,
He left his family alone that night.
He fought in the name of freedom,
He fought for everyone.
He would see our flag flying above.
And he would kneel to God above.
As he marched north from Saigon,
How many before had gone?
When on some forgotten trail,
How many before to heaven had sailed
When late at night,
He'd see a child’s face a mask of fright.
When our soldier's all came home,
He was left there all alone.
He see's the flag flying no more.
He is a prisoner of war.
As his story to me he told,
I began to get mighty cold.
And now I raise my glass in a toast,
As I realize he is a ghost.
So America I salute this MAN,
He died as a prisoner in Viet Nam!
We shall never know his name,
But he died for freedoms name.

and 2 about the 9-11 attacks.

THE DAY AMERICA CRIED
I could not believe what I saw on T.V,
They had attacked America the land of the free.
The tried to put America to her knees in fear,
We went to our knees not in fear, but in prayer.
I stood there in shock with tears in my eyes,
The day America cried.
Then I held my head up with pride,
As I saw the heros working side by side.
From the ruins our flag flew proud and tall,
As people of all races and beliefs answered the call.
I saw black and white working hand in hand,
As people joined together all across this great land.
Many are the heros whom we shall never know thier names,
From all across America they came.
They cried tears of sorrow,
For people they did not even know.
As our flag above the ruins flew,
All of America rallied to the RED, WHITE AND BLUE.
Our cry went out, THIS IS AMERICA YOU HEAR!
WE WILL NOT GIVE IN TO FEAR!
On our knees we pray to God above,
For God in all his love,
Had sent angels to take Gods children away,
When the towers fell on that September day

PASS ME THE FLAG
As the flag above the ruins flew,
And America rallied to the red white and blue
The firemen had raised the flag with tears in his eye,
The soldier called out "pass me the flag" as he marched by.
You can shed the tears for the dead,
I have a hard fight ahead.
Pass me the flag today,
That it might lead the way.
You are the heroes here in our land,
Today we go to fight in another land.
When all of America gathers for Thanksgiving,
We are fighting to keep the church bells freely ringing.
As you all gather around the Christmas tree,
I am here to help keep America free.
Please America do not live in Fear,
As we are fighting as we bring in the New Year.
If I should come back home with a flag draped over me,
Just remember I gave my all to keep America free.
Please do not shed a tear as they lay me away,
But live life to the fullest each and every day.
So pass me the flag my brother,
You may go and comfort someone's mother.
As the firemen raised the flag above the ruins that September day,
The soldier called out " pass me the Flag that I might be on my way"!
