one-half of a Barber & a beauty SLQ

Yes, that's true, only half of one. Not a Barber Half ::) Also a really nice 1920 SLQ and two wheaties, 1920 & 1923.

No date on the Barber Dime, I tried to find the other half, maybe I still will as I've got a lot more yard to do at this place.

I don't have a exact date of the home but it is the first "stick home" they call them in the area. Pre-1830 I think. It's on the corner of a cross roads next to the old railroad tracks and trolly bed. Sounds very promising once I get myself around back near that area.

Anyway, I stuck out the cold chill in the air today for 3hrs and got these. Tomorrow is even colder yet, but I might give it a try. But definately Black Friday I'll be there, supposed to be 60 degrees!

...and I have my sights set on the property across the road, old home foundation, no home there now and shows on a 1898 survey topo map. The owners are next door to it, was their grandmother's place I'm told today. But for now, where I am today have lots of property to work, may not finish this fall if it starts snowing. >:(

Re: one-half of a Barber

Sweet! I just posted a dateless SLQ found this morning, but yours beats it!

Re: one-half of a Barber

Nice

Re: one-half of a Barber

cool find! i wonder how long people cut coins in half to make change. that sure is what looks like happened to that dime.

Re: one-half of a Barber

Nice post thanks for sharing!

Re: one-half of a Barber

Can you find the other half and solder it back together, diggin? ;D It's nice to see a SLQ with a date. :)

Re: one-half of a Barber

That's too bad about the dime. At least its silver. Too bad you couldn't have found the half with the date...
but then, maybe it's better that you didn't find the half with the date.

Re: one-half of a Barber

Great finds and great close-up photos. Thanks for posting.

Re: one-half of a Barber

Re: one-half of a Barber

Congrats on the SLQ...wonder why someone would chop a dime in half? Great finds!

NIce SLQ. ;D Nate and I both only found one SLQ with a date. Both of ours were 1920's also. Mine was more worn but Nate's was almost as good as yours. Congratulations on a super find. The SLQ's are beautiful with such little wear.

Re: one-half of a Barber & a beauty SLQ

Nice looking SLQ. Those are some great finds. I only fount two in my life. Wish I could find more. Nice site also.

Re: one-half of a Barber & a beauty SLQ

Very nice find on the SLQ. It is extremely rare to find one prior to 1925 with the date. From 1916 to 1924 the date was raised, causing it to wear extremely quick. This was remedied in 1925 by recessing the date. I have found 3 SLQ over my years of MDing, two 27 and one dateless. Still looking for my first pre 25 with a date.
