1stah 001.webp 1stah 002.webp Just wanted to share this sweet story with yall . I went metal detecting this past Saturday and my 10 year old daughter wanted to tag along . So I said sure come on . She kept saying she wanted to find her first arrow head . I took her to a field I had previously founds some nice points and we went hunting . After an hour of her picking up every rock in the field she was getting disgusted. On our way back to the truck I noticed her reach down and pick up something and look at it for a few minutes . Then she comes running to me saying " Daddy is this an arrow head ?" Yes that is her very first arrow head!!! She was very excited and we went and bought a small shadow box for her to display it in .......... So any of you parents that has children please take them relic hunting. Its more healthy than sitting in front of a video game and they learn history plus its quality family time . Priceless. If any of you know they type material , style , time period she'd be interested in knowing . Thanks and happy hunting .

Be prepared to have a tag along more often than not now haha

Time well spent with your daughter. Tell her I said congrats

EXCELLENT!

The experience of hunting arrowheads with her father will be a fond memory all her life. I speak from experience -- though I never found an arrowhead with my father, I cherish those hunts. So will she.

Right on! Good on her ;) Yakker

It does my soul good to see parents spending quality time with their children. A lot of parents today are so busy running them from one sport to another they don't have time left to spend it directly with the kids. I grew up in a time where parents had lots of kids and there wasn't individual or even much family quality time. She will be a blessing to you and you to her. Well done dad and tell her congratulations from me too!

Looks like you got a new dig buddy, good for her

I can't think of a better way to spend the day. Congratulations on her first point and I suspect it will not be her last.

Awesome! I used to take my Daughter out quite a bit, but alas they grow up and out of the hobbies we like, enjoy that time and congrats to her!

These guys have said it all!! From experience I tell you, spend time with her now and she will spend time with you later. Tony

Great story and a very nice point. I have never found one like it!

Good for her! That's a Morrow Mountain point, from the Middle Archaic period. It's somewhere between 5,000 and 7,000 years old.
