Since most of the coins I have been digging at this spot seem to be from 1862-1865, today's lone find would make sense. Another very deep find, at least 8-9" down. A 1863 George Washington New York civil war token. Most of the civil war tokens I dig are store cards so it was nice to get a political one for a change. Also pulled a nice Scovil Mfg Co New York Militia cuff button from an adjacent area.

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Nice! A couple super finds. Congrats!

Two beautiful saves. Congrats

Nice find. They say tokens like these took the place of federal coinage when it was hoarded during and after the civil war but it doesnt seem to come out of the ground often

Great CW token and NYS Militia button! :icon_thumright:
The button still has some nice color to it. Will you clean the token further?

Very nice token and button. It's fitting that you found a really cool NY token in.... Ny. I feel the same way about finding a Massachusetts item in Ma!

Nice CW token and button Ed...:icon_thumright:
