One man's junk...is one man's junk...

Not much to say here. Did some MDin' at the campsite at the beach, but nothing to write home about. I am new a this, but having a great time!!! Thought I'd still post my finds: A "slightly used" tent stake, 3 pull tabs, 2-1/2 bottle caps (the 1/2 with the most patina), 4 nails, a piece of wire and a valve stem.

It sure has to get better...Just when you least expect it you will find somrthing great and have a grin as big as a plate. Sorry, I didn't intend to make it rhyme ;)

Re: One man's junk...is one man's junk...

As a newbie, you will learn we all have to pay our dues in the learning of a detector. Everyone on here finds junk, almost everyday. If they say they don't, there not picking up all the junk they dig up.

Don't get discouraged. The good finds are out there and you will find them. Learn your detector, listen to what it's telling you. Put out a test plot of coins, jewelry, pull tabs, iron items and see how they sound and where they come in on your meter of your detector, if you have a meter. What they sound like in different modes on your detector.

Maybe your hunting in all metal and your picking up every signal. That's not all bad, many good rings and even gold coins are picked up by working a detector in all metal.

Good Luck, keep us informed on your next finds.

It's gonna get better, but it was exciting to dig up what you found today. Good luck & happy hunting.

well you got a metal detector and your finding metal---now time to work on the where to use it for the "best" results---- Ivan

Re: One man's junk...is one man's junk...

Its a start.
At least you know its working.....

Re: One man's junk...is one man's junk...

Bottle cap with a 'patina' - that is rich!

That little Fisher is a great detector to start with - and don't ever sell it. You'll be sorry you did. Follow the advice of the others given here, keep at it with patience and you will soon begin 'coining up'. Then it wont be long before you reach that magic number: a sizeable chunk of the cost of your next uint will come from your finds jar! :D

Re: One man's junk...is one man's junk...

Your doing great.......just the other day I dug a pull tab, and under it was a coin.....it was a weird signal.......keep it up.......bro. It is all about location....try digging the stuff that didn't sound like that stuff........you will be amazed!!!!!!

Re: One man's junk...is one man's junk...

I agree with the test garden post. As I like to find coins (I do love money!) I buried a penny, a nickel, a dime, and a quarter (didn't have a half to bury). I've learned that when mine says a quarter then 99 times out of 100 it will be a quarter. Today was that one time in 100, I pulled up one of those new George Washington dollar coins which read as a quarter...I can't say that I was disappointed though. LOL I seem to find more than my share of pennies tho. The first gold ring I dug rang up as a penny...now I have to dig them; wouldn't want to miss that occasional ring. I'm up to 31 rings now...only about 6 of them are gold or silver. Have fun with it, try the garden and pay attention to what your detector tells you. Good luck.

How much for the tent stake ?

Re: One man's junk...is one man's junk...

Welcome to tnet from the UK.

Yeap junk, but with patience the good stuff will come.

Its the digging of rubbish that helps you appreciate the keepers. Its like fishing you never know when the big one will hit!

Re: One man's junk...is one man's junk...

Welcome to Treasurenet. Those are some of the best pull tabs I have seen posted on Treasurenet. Keep trying it will get better as you get use to your detector.
